Trauma

Trauma refers to serious or life-threatening physical injuries caused by accidents, violence, falls, or other external forces. These injuries can range from minor cuts and bruises to severe conditions such as fractures, internal bleeding, head injuries, and spinal cord injuries. Trauma care is critical in providing immediate and effective treatment to prevent further harm, minimize complications, and improve survival rates. The management of trauma typically involves a multidisciplinary approach, including emergency medical services (EMS), trauma surgeons, orthopedic specialists, neurologists, and critical care teams. Trauma care continues beyond the initial emergency phase, often requiring surgery, intensive care, and long-term rehabilitation. The goal is not only to treat the injuries but also to restore function, manage pain, and support the patient’s psychological recovery from the traumatic event.
